James H. Stone ’55

James H. Stone ’55 died November 20, 2021, in Belfast. Maine. He is survived by his wife, Laurie, sons Antony and Philip, daughter Cassandra, and stepson Mark. Jim majored in history and was a member of the Dartmouth Mountaineering Club. After graduation he earned a Ph.D. from Princeton University. He began his academic career at Oberlin College and then spent 30 years as a professor at Wesleyan University. In 1989 Jim helped found Miyazaki (Japan) International College, where he taught as a professor of Asian philosophies and religions until 1996.
