David Deal Snyder ’52

David Deal Snyder ’52, M.D., died peacefully in his sleep on December 10, 2021, in Jacksonville, Florida. Dave was born in Buffalo, New York, on April 16, 1931,and spent his early childhood in the suburbs of Chicago. The Snyder family relocated to Riverside, Connecticut, where he resided for most of his adolescent life. Dave attended Choate Rosemary Hall School in Wallingford, Connecticut. At Choate Dave was able to hone his academic acumen, graduating early with honors. He attended Dartmouth for two years before finishing his undergraduate degree at Northwestern University in Chicago. Dave went on to attend the George Washington School of Medicine and Health Sciences and spent his residency and fellowship at the University of Minnesota. He then relocated to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where he met his future wife, Margaret Anne Howard. Dave had a long and successful career as a thoracic and vascular surgeon. He spent his limited free time hunting and fishing and especially enjoyed playing tennis at the Oklahoma City Tennis Club, where he was as much a force on the tennis courts as he was in the operating room. Dave and Margaret Anne enjoyed traveling abroad, mostly in Europe because of his love of history, particularly World War I. Dave is survived by his wife; their son, Richard; his son and daughter from his first marriage, Scott and Sheryl; and four grandsons.
