Richard E. Holland ’57

Richard E. Holland ’57 of York, Maine, died on July 8, 2021. Dick graduated from Derby Academy in Hingham, Massachusetts. At Dartmouth he majored in English, was social chairman and vice president of Zeta Psi, and belonged to the Glee Club for three years. He started his career at Addison-Wesley Publishing Co., a leading producer of textbooks. Dick was with the company from 1960 to 1972, rising to the position of vice president of the college division. He was treasurer and on the board of trustees of Theater-by-the-Sea. In midlife, Dick decided to pursue an interest in antiques and rare books. He moved to the historic town of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He was a partner in Post Road Associates in nearby Kittery, Maine. Later he moved to Cape Neddick, a part of York, where he spent many years in this small seaside community.
