Dandre G. DeSandies ’70

Dandre G. DeSandies ’70 died unexpectedly of a massive heart attack on August 13, 2019, in Newark, California. He was one of the historic number of Black students enrolled with the class of 1970. A psychology major, Dandre was a charter member of the Dartmouth Afro American Society and a star member of the track team, winning numerous races and championships in high hurdles during his career at Dartmouth. After Dartmouth he received his master’s in education from San Francisco State University and his Ed.D. in psychology/counseling from the University of San Francisco. For most of his career he was a staff therapist and associate director of the office of counseling at Stanford University, where he was respected and admired. He is survived by his wife, ManYee, sons Ayinde and Kayin, several grandchildren, and brothers Kenneth and Andre.
