Roger James Schulz ’60

Roger James Schulz ’60 died on August 19. Roger was born on September 22, 1938, in Chicago, the only child of C. Edward Schulz and Caroline Elizabeth Rogers. At Dartmouth he majored in economics and spent two years with the Rifle Club and four years with WDCR, in his senior year as program director. In 1962 Roger married Marilyn Faulkner Jordan. Roger and Marilyn were the proud parents of sons, Andrew ’86, and Carl Edward, who died in 1986. Roger spent 20 years with J.P. Morgan Guaranty Trust engaging in the financing of major international petroleum companies, traveling extensively in the United States, Europe, and Asia. In 1978 Roger opened the Toronto office and, moving his family, served as vice president and manager of Morgan’s corporate banking activity in Canada. Roger then joined the First National Bank of Chicago, Canadian office, and later served as senior vice president of Laurentian Life Insurance Co. before concluding his career at the Ontario Ministry of Industry. During this time he served as club officer and president of Canadian regional clubs for 16 years. Roger was an avid cross-county skier and a lifelong patron of the arts, especially of the opera. Marilyn, Andrew, daughter-in-law Lise, and grandchildren Axel and Simon dearly miss him. They remember him for his devotion to family, deep curiosity, and sense of humor, which was with him until the end.
