William Barton Chapin III ’55

William Barton Chapin III ’55 passed away on July 8 in River Hills. Wisconsin. He is survived by Carolyn, his wife of 64 years, and children Susan, Scott, Deborah, Dave, and Bart. Raised in Bronxville, New York, Bill came to Dartmouth from Taft School. He majored in economics and was a member of Phi Kappa Psi, WDBS, and Air Force ROTC. Bill served in the Air Force as an F86 interceptor pilot in Vietnam and a search-and-rescue pilot in the Michigan National Guard. He completed his service with the rank of major. Bill then became an executive vice president with the Wisconsin Malting Co.
