William Forest Scott ’52
William Forest Scott ’52 died on April 15 in Colorado. Bill was born in Denver on October 21, 1930, attended Denver public schools and graduated cum laude from Dartmouth and Tuck in 1952. Bill was a member of Sigma Nu and Dragon. He served in the Army for two years, training at Fort Riley, Kansas, then was stationed with the 43rd and 5th Infantry divisions in Augsburg, Germany. He returned to Denver and began a 35-year career, most of it at investment banker, Hanifen, Imhoff Inc., with a final decade in the trust department at First Interstate Bank. In 1955 Bill met Sarah Jane Mee in Denver and in 1957 they were married in Barrington, Illinois. Between 1958 and 1971, they had children Bruce, Mark, Craig, Christopher, and Elizabeth. Bill was preceded in death by Christopher (1969), Craig (1984), and Sarah (2014). He is survived by Bruce and his wife, Brenda; Mark; Elizabeth; and grandchildren Allison and Colin. He took up running in 1977 and completed eight marathons in the next six years. He read widely and enjoyed TV comedies, serious movies, and sports. Bill learned poems by heart from an early age and was known for reciting A.E. Housman lyrics at Sigma Nu parties in Hanover and Kipling ballads at cocktail parties in Denver. He enjoyed an interesting and productive life.
