Edward Thomas Blair ’52

Edward Thomas Blair ’52 passed away on July 15 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. He was born on May 21, 1930, in Connecticut and graduated from Hamden High School. Ed then graduated from Dartmouth, where he was a history major and served as editor of the freshman Green Book and city editor for The Dartmouth. He began law school at Columbia University for one year, served a two-year term in the U.S. Army, and then graduated from Columbia in 1957. His legal career started with a firm in Norwalk, Connecticut. He moved to a law practice in New Haven and then served for many years in legal responsibilities with the Connecticut state government, including as an assistant attorney general for the state. He retired in 1992 and began enjoying some fifteen years of international and domestic travel with his wife, Joanne. Ed was also a literacy volunteer, sang in a barbershop quartet, played the piano at Connecticut Hospice and other locations, was a member of several local bridge groups, and hosted Bible Group and a small Christian community at his home for many years. Public and community service came easy for him. He is predeceased by his wife Joanne, who passed away in 2015 after 57 years of marriage. Children Cindy and Ted also predeceased him. He is survived by daughters Karen, Sharon, and Michelle; their spouses; and seven grandchildren.
