Joshua Kennard ’97

Joshua Kennard ’97 passed away after a long illness on February 26. Josh came to Dartmouth from Concord, New Hampshire, where he was at the top of his high school class and on his school’s downhill skiing and tennis teams. He majored in earth sciences and was a member of Alpha Chi Alpha. An avid lover of the outdoors, Josh was known for his devotion to his dogs, fishing, skiing, photography, and reading. Josh lived in New York for several years following graduation and returned home to care for his ailing parents, Robert ’48, Tu’49, who died in 2003, and Ann, who died in 2015. Josh’s first-year roommate, Mark Abruzzese ’97, recalled Josh was “an adventurous and playful soul who I am very sorry to have lost. A few years back we had a lively exchange on the socials regarding my recent foray into music, of which he was very supportive.” On Facebook, Jen (Hill) Leineweber ’97 and Meredith (Epstein) Goodman ’97 pictured Josh “wearing a well-loved baseball hat with a big smile on his face,” and Pamela Signorello ’97 remembered Josh with “vivid fondness.” Josh is survived by his uncle, Ronald.
