William Barnard Stern ’54

William Barnard Stern ’54, originally from New Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away on May 15, 2017, in Florida. Bill came to Dartmouth from Clark Preparatory, where he played soccer and baseball, sang in the choir, was basketball student manager, and worked on the school paper. He did not graduate from Dartmouth, but received a bachelor’s in English from the University of Miami in 1955. He was on the dean’s list in his third year a brother at Gamma Delta Chi. Continuing his education at Miami, he was granted a J.D. in 1956. Subsequently, Bill was licensed to practice law in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida, and Massachusetts. In 2000 he was awarded a master of laws in estate planning from the University of Miami. Bill is survived by his wife, Naomi; children Holly, Laurel, and Ronald; and sister Irma.
