Surviving him are his wife of 70 years, Helen; four children, including son Richard Jr. ’74 and daughter-in-law Jocelyn ’77; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Dick’s father was a member of the class of 1916. Dick majored in economics and history and was a member of Sigma Chi, the varsity crew, and the Interdormitory Council. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a first lieutenant and fighter pilot after graduation. Through the years Dick was responsible for diversifying the company’s offerings to include a growing number of outdoor recreational products, including equipment for fishing, boating, and skiing. Dick also served on the boards of the American Stock Exchange, Fulton Bank, Franklin & Marshall College, Lancaster General Hospital, and Greater Lancaster Corp.
