Endocrinologist Donald Bergman ’67 has earned the 2020 American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (AACE) Yank Coble Distinguished Service Award and the 2021 Mount Sinai Alumni Association Jacobi Medallion. He has been clinical professor at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City since 2004 and has served as president of the AACE, the American College of Endocrinology, and the American College of Endocrinology Foundation.
The Rev. Thaddeus Bennett ’76 of Conway, Massachusetts, has been elected to the board of trustees of Kent School, a prep school affiliated with the Episcopal Church. Bennett has served for more than 30 years as a priest in the Episcopal Church in Connecticut, California, and Vermont and has founded three HIV/AIDS organizations.
Filmmaker John Donvan ’77 has earned the Oxford Film Festival Jury Prize and the Sonoma International Film Festival Audience Award for In a Different Key: The Movie. The documentary he coproduced is based on his book about autism, which was a finalist for the 2017 Pulitzer Prize in General Nonfiction.
Dr. Jeffrey Cooper ’87, who is chief of transplant surgery at the Tufts Medical Center and a professor at Tufts Medical School, received the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award from the school during its May commencement. The award is given to the faculty member “who demonstrates both clinical excellence and outstanding compassion in the delivery of care.”
Catherine Brew Colin ’87 has been elected mayor of San Rafael, California. She served as city councilwoman for eight years and is the first female elected mayor in the city’s almost 150-year history.
Pediatrician Kristen (Calcagni) Johnson ’96, the consulting physician for New Hampshire School Administrative Unit 16, has been named the Exeter Area Chamber of Commerce “Citizen of the Year.” She was cited for her work guiding the school district through evolving Covid-19 policies.
Rower Molly Reckford ’15 took first place in the lightweight women’s double sculls event at the at the World Rowing Final Olympic Qualification Regatta in May. Reckford, who trains in the Boston area, made her world championships debut in 2019 when she finished fourth in the lightweight quadruple sculls.
