Patrick Gleason Quinn ’79

Patrick Gleason Quinn ’79, M.D.,died peacefully in his sleep on November 19, 2020, after a 15-year battle with neck cancer. For many years Pat and wife Stacy (Smith) ’79lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Pat was born in Milton, Massachusetts, on November 30, 1957, and attended Boston Latin School. At Dartmouth Pat joined Heorot, was on the varsity sailing team, played summer rugby, and majored in education and urban and regional studies. Pat and Stacy met their senior year at a party in the Heorot basement, which Pat recalled as “the best party ever!” Stacy recalls that it was then she knew he was kind and funny. They were married in 1981. Pat attended medical school at Case Western Reserve, a residency at Yale, a fellowship in gastroenterology at Case Western, and a year in the Indian Health Service. After serving as a professor of medicine, in 1997 he entered private practice in Santa Fe. Above everything, Pat loved Stacy and their two children, Danny and Brigid. He coached hockey and other sports and was active in the community. In 2005 Pat was diagnosed with stage IV neck cancer. He continued to fight until the end, never complaining, even seeing patients the day he died. He was instrumental in organizing Dartmouth ’79 Heals, a medical mission service project. Pat will be greatly missed.
