Peter Mark Becker ’74, M.D., of Fayetteville, New York, died on May 29, 2019, while rowing at his family camp on Skaneateles Lake, New York. Peter came to Dartmouth from Jamesville, New York. He graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with distinction in biology. Peter earned his M.D. from Dartmouth Medical School, followed by residencies in internal medicine at the University of Rochester Medical Center and geriatric medicine at Duke University Hospital. He was board certified in internal and geriatric medicine. He spent most of his career as a practicing physician with CNY Internists and Hutchings Psychiatric Center in Syracuse, New York, and as medical director of Van Duyn Home and Hospital while it was owned by Onondaga County. Peter loved sports, especially Syracuse University basketball, football, and lacrosse. He was founding president of the Jamesville Dewitt Youth Athletic Association, where he coached youth basketball and lacrosse. He met his partner of 37 years, Annette, whose family camp was just two doors down from his at the lake. They both loved the lake and were often seen rowing together or just enjoying days with family and friends. Peter was predeceased by his father, John, and beloved son Mark. He is survived by Annette, sons Eric and Brian, grandson Theodore, mother Barbara, and a brother and sister.
