Edwin Pierson Felch III ’60

Edwin Pierson Felch III ’60 died December 1, 2020. Pierce was born January 24, 1938, in Chatham, New Jersey, to Roberta and Edwin Pierson Felch Jr. and lived there until he completed high school. At Dartmouth he was a member of the Aegis staff, Camera Club, and Navy ROTC. He graduated with a major in psychology, enlisted in the Navy, and served in Coronado, California, and Yokosuka, Japan, ultimately earning the rank of lieutenant commander. He earned his J.D. at the John Marshall Law School, where he graduated at the top of his class in 1972. Pierce had a distinguished career at AT&T Bell Laboratories in various states and retired in 1989 as director of facilities management. In 1991 he moved to Blacksburg, Virginia, to enjoy his retirement years. Pierce was married to Nancy for 52 years. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed driving anything with wheels. During his lifetime Pierce owned close to 100 different types of motorcycles and loved buying and selling them. In retirement he worked at Blacksburg Transit, driving a bus for 10 years and competing in its bus rodeos. He also volunteered at the Lewis Gale Montgomery Hospital. Pierce enjoyed country music and meeting his fellow bikers for breakfasts. Surviving family includes Nancy, son Christopher, and grandchildren AnnMarie, Morgan, Haven, and Ella.
