Parke H. Sickler ’51

Parke H. Sickler ’51, whose 37-year career as a corporate manufacturing and personnel executive led to management roles at production facilities in eight states, died in Fayetteville, Georgia, on September 6, 2020. Parke’s wife, Bernie, died in 2004. He is survived by four children, nine grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. At Dartmouth he was a member of Casque & Gauntlet, Beta Theta Pi, and the Interfraternity Council. He played baseball and junior varsity football. He earned his M.B.A. from the Tuck School and served for two years as an aviation supply officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. He joined the Campbell Soup Co. after graduation and went on to senior roles with United Shoe Machinery Corp. and Georgia Pacific Corp., where he served as plant manager and executive vice president. Parke attended the Harvard advanced management program in 1968. He retired in 1991. Upon retirement Parke and Bernie built their dream home in Brevard, North Carolina. In Brevard he served as a volunteer mediator and member of the board of directors of Transylvania County Dispute Settlement Center. He was in demand as a coach for youth athletic teams. He enjoyed all forms of outdoor athletic activity—including golf, tennis and hiking—as well as gardening. He was a lifelong follower of Dartmouth sports, often taking his family to Hanover for football games.
