Peter DeForest Johnson ’82
Peter DeForest Johnson ’82 died on July 26. Peter was an incredible, selfless human being who lived life to the fullest. Peter enjoyed an active lifestyle of hiking, cycling, backpacking, fishing, wood-working, aviation, and scuba diving, as well as traveling, cooking and having a family life. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, colleague, and friend, and was respected by all who were fortunate to know him. Peter was a thoughtful, strong leader and a calming presence, reliable and able to find the bright side in any situation. After graduating from Dartmouth, he enjoyed a career as an officer in the U.S. Coast Guard and after that, as a mechanical engineer in the defense industry. His continuous guidance, knowledge, and dedication will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Rosalbina; mother Judith; daughter Erin and her husband, Mike; daughter Carrie and her husband, Peter; daughter Meredith and her husband, Alan; grandchildren Kyla, Colin, and Rawley; and siblings Holly, Scott, Chris, and Gail. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, coworkers, and brothers- and sisters-in-law. He was predeceased by his father, Peter ’59.
