Harry P. Guenther ’55

Harry P. Guenther ’55 died on April 28 in Lebanon. Virginia. He is survived by his son, Chris, and his daughter, Kim. A native of Hamburg, New York, Harry majored in history and was a member of Sigma Chi and Dragon. After graduation he earned an M.B.A. from Tuck and a Ph.D. in finance history from Indiana University. Harry began his teaching career in 1959 at the American University in Beirut, Lebanon, where he was dean of the Beirut Management College. In 1964 Harry was appointed associate professor of finance at Georgetown University and served as dean of the Georgetown Business School from 1966 to 1969. Following Georgetown Harry became president of Golembe Associates, a bank research and consulting company. In 1978 he was named the Cohodas Chair of Banking at Northern Michigan University, where he retired in 2000.
