Raymond S. Corwin ’54

Raymond S. Corwin ’54, M.D., passed away July 19 in Green Valley, Arizona. He was born in 1932 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Robert and Elizabeth Corwin. Ray grew up in Peoria, Illinois, where he attended high school. At Dartmouth Ray majored in chemistry and zoology and was a member of Alpha Epsilon and Dartmouth Outing Club, Yacht Club and crew. He went on to get his master’s at Michigan State and M.D. at Wake Forest University. For more than three decades he cared for others as a physician of obstetrics and gynecology and delivered thousands of babies for patients in the Portland, Oregon, metro area. He was national vice president of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Ray had a deep love of the outdoors that he shared with friends and instilled in his children and grandchildren through countless camping adventures. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and skier. He cherished cold mornings with fog rising off a trout stream and a fly rod in hand and reveled in seeing his Brittany spaniels carefully working a field. He savored moments under the stars singing in harmony with steadfast friends by the warm glow of a campfire. He is survived by his children, Randy, R. Scott ’86, and Ann.
