Albert Samuel Warren ’52

Albert Samuel Warren ’52 died on August 17 at the Pines at Davidson, North Carolina. Al was born on June 27, 1930, in Wrentham, Massachusetts. He graduated from Wrentham High School in 1948, attended Dartmouth for two years before transferring to Northeastern, where he graduated with a degree in chemistry in 1956. As an instrumentation engineer, Al went on to have a long and rewarding career in the field of industrial instrumentation, process control, and systems automation. Al was a 50-year life member of the International Society for Systems and Automation and taught classes at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte. After moving to Charlotte in 1959, he joined Holy Comforter Episcopal Church, where he served in a number of leadership roles. Al and Judy Kady were married in 1955, but she predeceased him. He retired to Davidson and it was there that he met his second wife, Bette Burris. They married in 2002 and moved to the Pines at Davidson to enjoy retirement. Al is survived by Bette; daughters Linda (and husband Gary), Stephans, Donna (and husband Tom), and Laura (and husband Brent); eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. With his marriage to Bette, he welcomed her daughters, Paula (and husband Bob) and Patty (and husband Steve), four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
