Lillie Brown-McNeill ’86

Lillie Brown-McNeill ’86 of Lynchburg, Virginia, died on June 20 after a brief period of illness. Werner Tillinger ’86 officiated at Lillie’s funeral on June 27 in support of her husband, William, son James and niece Alesha. Lillie was a history major at Dartmouth and an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, serving as vice president and president. She was also a varsity cheerleader from sophomore through senior year. She went on to earn her M.B.A. at New York University and held executive positions at Procter & Gamble and Home Depot. Her main passion and service to her community was as an educator, helping many children and pre-college teens succeed in school and get into college. She was an education advocate for many and helped young people who otherwise may not have had the opportunity to reach their potential. Friends remember Lillie as a fiercely loyal, loving woman who always “told you like it is.” She was deeply committed to her family and her church and was the kind of person who would fly across the country in a heartbeat to support a friend. Lillie touched the lives of many young people as an educator and was well-loved by students and parents alike.
