Paul A. Frangos ’73

Paul A. Frangos ’73 died on January 24 at home in Marion, Massachusetts, after a long struggle with multiple myeloma. A native of Lynn, Massachusetts, he came to Dartmouth in 1970 after a year at Tufts University. Paul was a government major, a member of the wrestling team, and a Big Brother. A gifted linguist, he studied for two terms in France. After graduation from the College Paul served in the Marine Corps before earning an M.B.A. in 1977 at the University of Virginia. Paul worked in international marketing, first for Parker Brothers and then for 25 years as a director of international marketing for Verizon. He trained sales forces and brought yellow pages business advertising to countries in the Mediterranean region, Asia, and the former Soviet Bloc. Transitioning from the corporate world to teaching, Paul taught mathematics and financial literacy for 10 years in northeastern Massachusetts to students in the public high schools of Lawrence and Lynn. As a Boy Scout leader he helped dozens of young men achieve Eagle Scout rank. Living during recent years in Marion on the South Coast of Massachusetts, Paul was able to enjoy bicycling, kayaking, walking his dogs, and practicing carpentry to help his children with their homes. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Elise, daughter Christina, son Evan, and daughter Lydia. Memorial contributions in Paul’s name may be made to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
