Helping Hands
Uma Ramesh ’20 started a nonprofit in which students offer tutoring services to raise money to help Upper Valley residents pay for healthcare. Health Access for All provided free tutoring for children of essential workers in May.

Barron’s listed Dartmouth’s chief investment officer, Alice Ruth ’83, as one of the 100 most influential women in U.S. finance.   

Pro Hopes
Two football players signed with NFL teams following the draft: cornerback Isiah Swann ’20 (Cincinnati Bengals) and defensive end Niko Lalos ’20 (New York Giants).

No Surprise
The parent of a student has joined a class action suit that seeks damages because the College charged full tuition for remote learning this spring. 

Virtual Interest
Forty-three percent of sophomores polled by The Dartmouth said they were “very unlikely” to take classes remotely this summer.

Morano Gelato, a beloved place to be on a hot summer day, has closed for good, citing lockdown-induced financial hardship.

Celebration

The ultimate book on the Orozco murals has landed: art history prof Mary Coffey’s Orozco’s American Epic: Myth, History, and the Melancholy of Race from Duke University Press.  

End of An Era
Men’s hockey coach Bob Gaudet ’81 retired in April after 23 seasons at the helm. He coached 752 games and won 331, both school records.

No Excuses!
Dartmouth athletics and recreation is offering 12 free weekly wellness and fitness classes via Zoom. 

Change of Art
After 25 years at the Hood Museum, deputy director Juliette Bianco ’94 is leaving to become director of the Weatherspoon Art Museum at the University of North Carolina. Hood director John Stomberg calls her “a rising star.”

Kudos
Government professor Jason Lyall earned a $200,000 grant by being named a 2020 Andrew Carnegie Fellow.  

Al Fresco
Outdoor dining returned to Hanover restaurants in mid-May with some tables set up in converted parking spaces along Main Street. 

Wildest Dreams
Lana Wilson, director of the Taylor Swift documentary Miss Americana, spoke in a live YouTube Q&A during the Hop@Home series in May.
