David Michael Krill ’79

David Michael Krill ’79 succumbed to pancreatic cancer on April 14 in the embrace of his wife, Liz, at their home in Raymond, Maine. Dave was an accomplished student-athlete at Shelton (Connecticut) High School, earning all-state honors in football and pole vaulting. Although his athletic career ended prematurely in 1975 due to a complete dislocation and fracture of the neck, Dave considered himself fortunate to have been granted 45 more years of life after making a full recovery. While at Dartmouth Dave majored in psychology and was a member of the Mountaineering Club and the Dartmouth Outing Club. He went on to earn a physician’s associate certification from Yale University and a master’s in education from Sacred Heart University. He enjoyed a fulfilling, 30-year career teaching science at Wilby High School in Waterbury, Connecticut, where he coached football and tennis and was named Teacher of the Year in 2015. Dave concluded his and Liz’s celebratory 2019 holiday letter with this inspiring message: “We just wanted to thank you all for thinking of us and keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. You don’t know how much that has meant to us and how much we appreciate it. I am on a new chemo drug protocol and I hope it will keep me going for a good while longer. Live life well!” Dave’s was an all-too-short life well lived.
