William Lloyd Steck ’59

William Lloyd Steck ’59 died on June 15, 2019. He entered Dartmouth from University School in Shaker Heights, Ohio, majored in art, and was a member of Phi Kappa Psi. He earned an M.A. in architecture from the Harvard School of Design in 1965. He then worked for a number of architectural firms, including Shepley Bulfinch and the Architects’ Collaborative in Boston. Bill returned to the Cleveland area in 1971 to establish his own firm, William L Steck Architects. For the next 30-plus years he specialized in school, hospital and industrial design, principally throughout the eastern part of the country, retiring in the early 2000s. His wife of more than 50 years, Julie, predeceased him, as did his sister, Suzy. He leaves children Kristen ’18, Julie, and William; seven grandchildren; and siblings Peter and Margaret.
