Larry Mamlet ’54

Larry Mamlet ’54 passed away on April 8 in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. Larry came to Dartmouth from Miami Beach High School. At Dartmouth he majored in English and wrote for The Dartmouth and Dart magazine. He attended the University of Miami School of Medicine, where he met and married Barbara Rothman. Larry practiced psychiatry at the Austen Riggs Center in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, and was campus psychiatrist at Williams College before moving to Santa Barbara, California, where he and Barbara practiced family therapy. He retired in 1990 and with Barbara began traveling the country in a series of elderly motorhomes. He learned enough mechanics to cope with repeated breakdowns, but in 1994 they parked the latest RV and settled down on the banks of the Sassafras River’s Eastern Shore of Chesapeake Bay. Larry is survived by his wife of 62 years, children Alfred, Robin, and Geoffrey, and seven grandchildren.
