David N. Elders ’63

David N. Elders ’63 died peacefully on December 1, 2019, at the Westchester (New York) Medical Center. Dave was born February 1, 1941, in Port Chester, New York, and graduated from New Canaan (Connecticut) High School, where he played baseball, football, and hockey. He was later inducted into the New Canaan Athletic Hall of Fame. At Dartmouth he majored in economics, was brother of Phi Delt, a member of Dragon, and played hockey all four years. Dave went on to successful endeavors in real estate development and the software industry. He was an avid outdoorsman, boater, skier, and golfer. Dave had a passion for giving to others. He was a founder of the Darien (Connecticut) Youth Hockey Association, coached his sons and others in hockey and baseball, and later coached the Darien High School hockey team. He was also involved with Safe Rides and Kids in Crisis. Dave and his wife, Marta, were strongly religious for their 50 years of marriage, guided by their study of The Urantia Book. Dave served in many capacities of the Urantia Brotherhood, including as president. In the class of ’63 25th reunion book, Dave wrote, “To me, the real-life adventure is our expanding awareness of the eternal meaning in common, everyday life experiences to the degree that the values of inner spirituality are a part of our consciousness.” Marta, sons Matthew and Brad, and their families, including five grandchildren, survive him.
