Harry Michael Clements ’63

Harry Michael Clements ’63, M.D., passed away peacefully on February 6 in Pittsburgh after a long illness. He was born in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, pitched in the 1955 Little League World Series, and attended Stowe Township High School, where he earned letters in baseball and basketball and was valedictorian of his class. At Dartmouth he majored in history and was premed. Michael was a brother of Alpha Theta and active in intramural sports and the Newman Club. He followed his father to the Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, graduating in 1966. He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and served aboard the USS Staten Island, an ice cutter for Operation Deep Freeze, looking for a northwest passage for global trade. After a period as physician for Weirton Steel, Michael opened his private practice in McKees Rocks and later Brookline, Pennsylvania, serving that region for many decades. He retired in 2017 and enjoyed his hobbies of opera (he spoke Italian) and marquetry. His five siblings and their children survive him.
