Henry Brower Mann ’60

Henry Brower Mann ’60, M.D., of Stonington, Connecticut, died of a stroke at the Yale Medical Center in New Haven, Connecticut, on January 27, 2015, the College recently learned. Hank was born August 10, 1937, in Plainfield, New Jersey, to Thomas Dewey Mann and Anne Brower. He attended Dartmouth and Tufts University for undergraduate and graduate work prior to receiving a medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine. He completed his internship in pediatrics, a psychiatric residency, and a fellowship at the Yale Child Study Center, thereafter providing psychiatric services for servicemen and their families as a major in the U.S. Air Force. Returning to Connecticut in 1973, he established a private practice in child psychiatry in addition to working for various hospitals and mental health agencies. Later in life he was employed by Quality Behavior Health in Warwick, Rhode Island. In 1971 Hank married Nancy Mersfelder, with whom he had sons David and Michael. Very active in the boys’ lives, he coached them in soccer for 10 years. Passionate by nature, he pursued interests in cooking, gardening, and the piano. In 1997 he married Carol Rothermel Pere, with whom he had son Thomas as well as embracing stepchildren Jason and Melody. In addition to Carol, Nancy, and his children, he is survived by his brother, Thomas.
