Timothy B. Robinson ’57

Timothy B. Robinson ’57 died peacefully at home in Ridgewood, New Jersey, on January 16. Tim graduated from Trenton (New Jersey) Central High School. He majored in geology and was in Phi Kappa Psi and in the Navy ROTC. He was a lieutenant in the Navy on the USS Stribling from 1957 to 1959. He earned a master of arts from New York University in 1960, an M.B.A. from Rutgers in 1984, and a master of science from Iona College in 1989. Tim taught math in New Jersey for four years before joining Jersey City State College, where he worked in admissions and as registrar and acting dean. In 1970 he became founding registrar of Ramapo College, which opened in 1971. He stayed at Ramapo for the rest of his career, in administration for a decade as dean of academic services and then as tenured faculty in the Ansfield School of Business, where he taught computer information systems. He retired in 1997 as dean emeritus. Tim had perfect pitch and was a musician and classical music lover. An avid birder, he often traveled to distant locations to add a bird to his life list. He was a seasoned sailor, especially in the Caribbean. He played tennis with a Ramapo group until he was almost 80. Tim and his wife, Nancy, made trips to Colombia and Bulgaria to adopt three of their children. He survived by Nancy and their eight children.
