George Alfred Davis ’52

George Alfred Davis ’52 of Stamford, Connecticut, passed away at home on January 27. George was born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, and attended Montclair High School. In 1946, after high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served two years, including one year on the Korean peninsula, before he was honorably discharged. He moved earned his A.B. from Dartmouth and an M.B.A. from Tuck School. George was a member of Sigma Chi. He became a certified public accountant and began his successful career in finance, first at Arthur Anderson. After working for different companies, he retired as the chief financial officer and vice chairman of C.R. Bard, a medical supplies company in New Jersey. George enjoyed playing golf and traveling the world. Always interested in improving his mind and continued learning, he earned a master’s in history from Drew University. He was also a lifelong supporter of the arts, especially the opera and symphony. George generously volunteered his time and talents serving on the vestry of the Church of the Atonement (Tenafly, New Jersey) and the residents’ board of Edgehill Senior Living Community. George was predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Maria (Nekos). He is survived by son Stephen, daughters Carol’82 and Leslie ’85 and her husband, Robert, as well as grandchildren Spencer, Charlotte ’18, Adelaide, Harrison, George, and Sam.
