Elmer “Pat” L. Sullivan ’52

Elmer “Pat” L. Sullivan ’52 died on September 29, 2019, in Trenton, New Jersey. Pat was born in Philadelphia on November 3, 1930. He graduated from Hamilton High School in Trenton and from Dartmouth, where he majored in philosophy, and graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He studied for the priesthood at the General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church in New York City and received a bachelor of sacred theology in 1955. He also took classes at the Princeton Theological Seminary for an M.Div. in 1978. Ordained to the diaconate and priesthood in the Episcopal Diocese of New Jersey in 1955, he served for many years as rector of St. Luke’s Church in Prospect Heights. He was rector of St. Augustine’s Church in Elizabeth from 1967 to 1974 and interim vicar of St. Michael’s Church from 1991 to 1994. He also worked as an administrator for the diocese from 1983 to 1990. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jean; son Jonathan ’90 and his wife, Cynthia; daughter Elizabeth and her husband, Brett; brother Robert Jr. and his wife, Bernice; a brother-in-law and sister-in law, Charles and Virginia; and three grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, John ’54.
