Theodore James Adams ’54
Theodore James Adams ’54 passed away on June 30 in Arizona. Jim came to Dartmouth from Denver, where he attended East High School. At Dartmouth he was an English major, a member of Dragon, and a brother of Psi Upsilon. Jim attended Tuck School during his senior year. After graduation he served from 1954 to 1956 in the U.S. Army Central Intelligence Corp. Upon discharge he completed his M.B.A. at New York University School of Business while working for a Wall Street brokerage firm. In 1957 Jim joined investment firm Loomis Sales in San Francisco and in 1960 transferred to its Boston office as a member of its institutional department, becoming a partner. From 1968 to 1971 he was president of Keystone Investment Management Co. In 1971 he moved to Crested Butte, a ski town in Colorado, where he purchased the Elk Mountain Lodge. In 1978 he sold the lodge and was involved in real estate sales and investment in Crested Butte until 1982. Jim then spent three years in Costa Rica, where he purchased a pizza restaurant. He eventually returned to Denver. In 1995 he moved to Green Valley, Arizona. Jim was a cofounder of the ’54 fly-fishing team. Jim is survived by his wife, Joan, and children Cass, Matt, and Melissa.
