Eugene Norman Rosenberg ’52

Eugene Norman Rosenberg ’52 passed away on July 14 at his home in Carmel Valley, California. Gene was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, in 1930 and graduated from Classical High School there in 1948. At Dartmouth he was a government major and graduated Phi Beta Kappa, class of 1952. He graduated from Harvard Law School (class of 1955), served two years in the U.S. Army, and then began his legal career at Maher, McCann and Talcott in Worcester. Gene and his first wife, Susan, moved to San Francisco in 1960. His career there included stints with storied San Francisco attorneys Melvin Belli and Marvin Lewis, and partnerships with Maurice “Morrie” Nelson and in the firm Stern, Stotter, Rosenberg & O’Brien. Gene was in solo practice from 1975 to 2000. After closing his practice he served as of counsel with the firm Aaron & Wilson until his retirement. In 1981 Gene married Pat and they lived in Montclair, California, for many years before moving to Carmel Valley in 2002. Pat passed away in November 2018. Gene was also preceded in death by daughter Elizabeth. Survivors include daughter Judith; son Daniel and his wife, Colette; grandchildren Louis, Nathaniel, and Eva; stepdaughter Corrinne and her husband, Mark; and his former wife, Susan. The family is grateful to his niece, Debra, for her companionship and support.
