Bruce David Classon ’54 passed away on April 20 in New York City. He came to Dartmouth from New York City. He attended the Clark School. At Dartmouth Bruce was an English honors major and a brother of Gamma Delta Chi. He was a member of the Interfraternity Council, the Quarterly, and Air Force ROTC. Bruce received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 1956 and eventually joined James Talcott Inc., a major finance company. In 1970 he joined Bankers Trust Co. as head of its factoring division and later as head of both factoring and commercial financing. Prior to retiring he was a senior managing director and partner at Bankers Trust. Bruce served as director of the Fifth Avenue Association, director and member of the executive committee of the National Commercial Finance Conference, and member of the board of governors of the New York Institute of Credit. He authored Commercial Credit and Collection Guide (Prentice Hall). Upon retiring after a 30-year career, Bruce returned to school to study creative writing and watercolor painting. Bruce is survived by his wife, Wilma, and children Gregory and Elizabeth.
