David S. Krivitsky ’51

David S. Krivitsky ’51 died in New York City on February 19 after a long illness. Dave’s rare loyalty, kindness, generosity, and sense of fun were greatly admired by his many friends. He loved Dartmouth, his life in Manhattan, weekends with wife Maria on Long Island, good food, and world travel. A classmate serving in the same destroyer squadron with Dave during their Navy duty in the early 1950s recalls pulling into port on several occasions and receiving semaphore messages from Dave’s ship asking, “How about dinner in Paris (or Capri or Madrid) this weekend?” Throughout his life Dave supported many worthwhile causes, most notably the West End House Camp in Allston, Massachusetts, where he was a camper, counselor, and its youngest director. He came to Dartmouth from Brighton, Massachusetts, and Worcester Academy, where he captained the track team and was a national champion sprinter. He also captained Dartmouth’s track team and was a member of Casque & Gauntlet, Pi Lambda Phi, and Green Key. Dave spent a long and illustrious career in New York in the textile industry, mostly in the field of women’s intimate apparel, and served as president of Native Textiles Co. He was honored by his peers as Man of the Year and received the prestigious Femmy Award from the Underfashion Club. He was predeceased by Maria. He is survived by his companion, Rena, who brightened the last 12 years of his life.
