Quentin B. Deming ’41, DMS’42
Quentin B. Deming ’41, DMS’42, died in Hanover on January 21. “Chip” was a gifted medical researcher and beloved doctor. He was in the fencing club at Dartmouth. After graduation from Dartmouth Medical School he earned his M.D. from Columbia University. Chip then served as a doctor in the Navy during World War II before a three-year medical fellowship at Stanford University. For decades after he conducted research and taught at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he was known for his calming presence and high ethical standards. Chip remained connected to Dartmouth for many years, serving as an alumni councilor from 2003 to 2006 and class president since 2006. He and his wife of 65 years, Vida, enjoyed many afternoons on their deck overlooking the Connecticut River. He was predeceased by Vida, and is survived by a brother, two daughters, three grandchildren, and a great-grandson.
