Nicholas Pappas ’89

Nicholas Pappas ’89 passed away on June 30, 2024, in Sarasota, Florida, following a 10-year battle with cancer that he fought with courage and determination. The eldest of five children, Nick grew up in New York City and attended Stuyvesant High School alongside many future Dartmouth classmates. At Dartmouth Nick majored in classical studies, was active in Bones Gate, and was a diver on the swimming and diving team. After Dartmouth Nick received a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and an M.S. in computer science from NYU, where he was also a professor. Nick worked in the legal and finance fields, migrating to the technology side of banking, before starting several businesses. Later in his career he was most proud of the pet products he created, inspired by his dog. Classmates say Nick was a great friend with a huge heart, whose smile and infectious laughter could light up a room. He was a master at seeing an everyday problem and solving it, turning it into a business opportunity. Nick also loved to draw and was a fan of Marvel and enjoyed rooting for the New York Mets. Nick is survived by son Demetri, daughters Ava and Ella, and four siblings.
