Nicholas David Procino ’59

Nicholas David Procino ’59 passed away unexpectedly on November 9, 2012. He entered Dartmouth from Auburn (New York) East High School, where he was captain of the basketball team, a member of the golf team and on the student council. At Dartmouth Nick majored in zoology and was a brother of Alpha Chi Rho. A four-year member of the Newman Club (Aquinas House), Nick served on the executive committee and was its secretary-treasurer his senior year. After graduation he was an advisor to the Newman Club. Nick was on the Dartmouth basketball team for three years and on the golf team for two years. Nick stayed active for Dartmouth, serving a term as class president and was active as a class agent. He held leadership positions with the Dartmouth Club of Eastern New York. He was a graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and NYU-Bellevue, where he received an oral surgery degree. He received his medical degree from Albany Medical College, completing a surgical internship and residency program at Albany Medical Center. Nick specialized in otolaryngology (disorders of ear, nose and throat) at Yale New Haven Medical Center, completing his residency at Albany Medical Center Hospital. For 22 years Nick practiced otolaryngology in Schenectady, New York, and published numerous articles on his specialty. He retired in 1996. Nick enjoyed golf, horseracing, attending Dartmouth sports events, snow birding to Florida and gourmet cooking. His wife, Roxanne, three children and his sister survive Nick.
