Nathan W. Smith ’67

Nathan W. Smith ’67 passed away on August 15 at home in Gilford, New Hampshire. Nate came to the College on a Navy ROTC scholarship from Laconia, New Hampshire; majored in engineering sciences, graduated with Phi Beta Kappa honors, and was a brother of Phi Kappa Psi. In 1969 he received his M.S. in electrical engineering from Columbia University, during which time he married his college sweetheart, Carolyn Rapp. Following his graduate work, Nate spent five years in Washington, D.C., at the division of naval reactors as a junior officer in the Navy. Upon completion of his service, Nate returned to Gilford to begin his life’s work running the Smith Farm Stand. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn; son Brent and his wife, Tanya; daughter Maggie and her husband, Alex; and three grandchildren.
