Nathan Putnam Doty ’55

Nathan Putnam Doty ’55 passed away November 22, 2016, in Braintree, Massachusetts. He is survived by Carol, his wife of 38 years, and sons Stephen and Glen. Doty came to Dartmouth from Milton Academy in Massachusetts. Although he was also accepted to Harvard, he chose to follow the footsteps of his father, Lawrence Doty, class of 1917, in coming to Hanover. Nathan majored in English and was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon. After graduation he served two years as a naval officer with Operation “Deep Freeze” in the Antarctica. He warmed up by earning an M.B.A. and certified public accountant (CPA) licensure at Boston University. Nathan worked for the Howard Johnson’s Co. in its Braintree headquarters and the Lydia Pinkham Clinic in Salem, Massachusetts, before spending 22 years as an independent CPA in Las Vegas.
