Nathan K. Kotz ’55

Nathan K. Kotz ’55 passed away on April 26 in Broad Run, Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lynn, and son Jack. Nick came to Dartmouth from St. Albans School in Washington, D.C. He majored in international relations and was a member of Navy ROTC, Sigma Nu, and the International Relations Club. In his junior year he received the Reynolds Scholarship for study in Europe. After graduating magna cum laude, Nick spent two years as a lieutenant in the Marine Corps. He then started his journalism career with The Des Moines Register, where he received a Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting. He also received the Sigma Delta Chi Award, the Raymond Clapper Memorial Award, and the first Robert F. Kennedy Award. His study of American military leadership won the National Magazine Award for Public Service. Nick was an Alumni Fund volunteer from 1987 through 2003.
