Michael James Merenda ’67
Michael James Merenda ’67 of New York City died on July 17. He came to the College from Purchase, New York, majored in French, was a member of Foley House and Casque & Gauntlet, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa. After graduation Mike interrupted his studies at Harvard Law School to work in the Peace Corps at the Ivory Coast in West Africa, returning to Harvard to receive his J.D. in 1972. Mike practiced corporate law in New York and Sweden; retired from Capital Blue Cross in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in 2013 as executive vice president of strategy; and later served as CEO and president of Geneia LLC, an innovations company specializing in the development and deployment of clinical, analytic, and technical solutions for healthcare. He was predeceased by his brothers, Gilbert and John. He is survived by his spouse, Leroy; sisters-in-law Jacqueline and Mary; nephews Christopher and Matthew; and niece Kathryn.
