Michael B. King ’57
Michael B. King ’57 passed away on November 20, 2016, in Dublin, New Hampshire, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.Born in Binghamton, New York, Mike was raised in Bloomfield Hills, Massachusetts. He came to Dartmouth in 1953 from Vermont Academy. At Dartmouth he majored in Sociology and was a member of Delta Tau Delta, the Dartmouth Film Society and the staff of the Jack-O-Lantern. He earned a master of fine arts degree from Boston University after studying at the American Academy of Art in Rome, Italy.Mike was a visual artist deeply involved in promoting the arts. He founded and directed the art department at the Brooks School in North Andover, Massachusetts, for 40 years. He was an avid collector of movie memorabilia and spent his life sharing his passion for film with the world around him. At age 12 he purchased a 16-milimeter projector and turned his basement into a movie theater for the neighborhood. After retiring from the Brooks School Mike moved to Dublin and became active in the campaign to restore the Park Theater in nearby Jaffrey. He was kind, generous, sensitive, loving and profoundly influential in the lives of generations of people, young and old.Mike is survived by three sons and nine grandchildren.
