Melanie Fisher Matte ’76

Melanie Fisher Matte ’76 passed away at home on September 17, 2014. During her time in Hanover she was the first female president of The Daily Dartmouth and an active member of Phi Tau. She went on to earn her J.D. and M.B.A. at Harvard and spent her career as an accountant at KPMG. She was proud to serve as the class treasurer for many years. Through her many years of stewardship, Melanie helped guide the class through the establishment of endowments for class scholarships and was instrumental in maintaining the class’ financial health. In addition to her role as treasurer, Melanie provided counsel to the class executive committee on many other issues. She embodied all of the positive qualities that represented the best of the first full class of coeducation. She is survived by her daughter, Megan, parents Ming and Fred, siblings Melinda and Scott and niece Maddie. Memorial contributions may be made to the Girl Scouts of America in her honor.
