Martina McLarty ’12

Martina McLarty ’12 passed away on July 12 after a lengthy battle with chronic illness. Martina was born on March 8, 1990, to Shizuko and Marvin McLarty. After graduating from El Cerrito (California) High School in 2008, she went on to study French and anthropology at Dartmouth. She participated in many College activities, including Ivy Council, the War & Peace fellowship, and study abroad programs in France and Australia. She spoke several languages fluently. She was loved and admired by her many friends and enjoyed bringing people together. She also enjoyed traveling, camping, and floating down rivers, especially two 12-day river-rafting trips in the Grand Canyon. She was an adventurer, a piano player, a dancer, an artist, and a hearty laugher. Martina will be lovingly remembered by her parents, as well as numerous extended family members and friends around the globe. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Dickey Center at Dartmouth to benefit current and future War & Peace fellows.
