Lucien Hall Case ’54

Lucien Hall Case ’54 died in his home in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, on May 23. Luke came to Dartmouth from University School in Shaker Heights, Ohio. At Dartmouth he attended Tuck School and was a member of Phi Delta Theta, Glee Club, Injunaires, Ledyard Canoe Club, and Navy ROTC. After a stint in the U.S. Navy as a lieutenant (j.g.) serving on landing ship tanks with the Pacific fleet, he returned to Cleveland and joined the Lamson & Sessions Co., a leading global manufacturer of fasteners. His work took him around the country and to São Paulo, Brazil, where for most of the 1960s he resided and represented the company throughout South America. Upon returning to Cleveland in 1968, he undertook a variety of private business ventures related to the tool and die and financial service industries. In 1956 he had joined the Singers’ Club of Cleveland; he sang with the club for more than60 years and established the Case Fellows Program to support young club members. He was also often found with a guitar, sharing his infinite repertoire of folk songs at music festivals and family gatherings and with friends. He worked tirelessly on behalf of the University School and Dartmouth alumni associations as well as for many other school and community-related causes. In addition to his wife, Ann, he is survived by sister Joan, daughters Amey and Genet, sons Murray and George, and eight grandchildren.
