Lewis H. Milkey ’54

Lewis H. Milkey ’54 of South Dennis, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully September 15, 2023. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be missed by all with whom he shared his life. Lewis was born the youngest son of Walter and Natalie Milkey in New Britain, Connecticut, on June 15, 1932. He came to Dartmouth from New Britain High School, earned an A.B. in history, and was a member of Phi Delta Alpha/Phi Delta Theta, Glee Club, and Army ROTC. Lew was active with the College, serving as class agent and interviewer and in fundraising activities. Upon graduation he entered the U.S. Army and served in the Ordnance Corps. He married Nancy Lee and they raised children David, Pamela, Suzanne, John, and Thomas. They resided in Wellesley, Massachusetts; then Simsbury, Connecticut; then back to Wellesley. Summers were spent in West Yarmouth, Massachusetts. Lew spent most of his career with Paine Webber Inc. (now UBS) as a financial manager. He retired in 1992 surrounded by family and friends. His hobbies included sailing and tending to his garden. Lew was an active member of Holy Trinity Church in Harwich, Massachusetts. He was predeceased by Nancy after 55 years of marriage. He is survived by his children and six grandchildren.
