Lester K. “Pete” Henderson Jr. ’55

Lester K. “Pete” Henderson Jr. ’55, M.D., passed away in Hanover on July 8. He is survived by Ann, his wife of 67 years; daughters Heidi and Heather; and five grandchildren. Pete came to Dartmouth from Weymouth, Massachusetts. He majored in geology, was a member of the Dartmouth Outing Club and Sigma Nu, and served as art editor of The Dart. After graduation Pete spent two years as a lieutenant in the Air Force and earned his M.D. from Boston University Medical School. He began his career as an orthopedic surgeon at Redington Fairview Hospital in Skowhegan, Maine. He became a fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. Pete retired in 1993 and moved to Hanover to be close to family.
