Leslie Rae Paulson Schmidt ’86

Leslie Rae Paulson Schmidt ’86 of Plymouth, Minnesota, died on October 15, 2024, following a courageous battle with mental health. Leslie received her A.B. in religion and premed and then her M.D. from the University of Minnesota in 1990. At Dartmouth she was involved in Big Brother/Big Sister, Delta Delta Delta, Glee Club, Green Key Society, Phoenix, and student workshops. She also participated in the French language study abroad program. After college, Leslie continued her relationship with Dartmouth as a fundraising volunteer and fraternity/sorority agent. Leslie will be remembered for the tremendous love and passion she showed her friends and family, especially husband Daniel and sons Eli and Torii, who survive along with her mother, Elizabeth, and several in-laws, stepsiblings, nieces, and nephews. Friends say she always lit up the room with her smile, and all who knew her were inspired by the strength and courage she displayed in her battle with mental health. Additionally, Leslie’s decision to be an organ donor benefitted nearly 70 individuals. In memory of Leslie, donations may be sent to the National Alliance on Mental Health (www.nami.org) at 4301 Wilson Blvd., Suite #300, Arlington, VA 22203.
